C.F. Liu and His Sycee Collection 劉建芳先生及其收藏
Mr. C.F. Liu is an important and outstanding
sycee collector; hiscollection, weighing in at over 20,000 taels, is believed
to be the largest private hoard in the world. Mr. Liu is also well known in
Taiwan as a political figure, he was elected as the major of Jia Shien
Subcounty (甲仙鄉) in
the southern part of the island, and served many terms. He is now enjoying his
retired life in that beautiful subcounty.
Mr. Liu started collecting sycee in the early 1990's, and since then he has
not only assembled a large collection, but also one which is distinguished by
the rarity and historical meaning of each piece. ?It is proper to say that the
collection is if of such high quality that any one of Mr. Liu�s choices would
be most collectors� dream. It is absolutely fantastic to illustrate the
history of sycee with so many specimens, and among them, there are so many
rare beauties.
An exhibition hall for Mr. Liu�s sycee collection was opened during the summer
of 2004 in Jia Shien Subcounty, and the public was able to view the collection
without charge. Following a warm invitation, the webmaster was able to enjoy
Mr. Liu's hospitality and have a detailed review of the sycee collection in
the exhibition during 2/6-2/7/05. With Mr. Liu�s permission, Sycee On Line
will soon share highlights of the collections with our viewers who are not
able to visit the exhibit.

劉建芳先生是當代最重要的中國銀錠收藏家之一，他的銀錠收藏，以重量計，超過二萬兩，是公認最大的私人收藏。在台灣，劉先生曾活躍於南部的地方政治圈，多次當選高雄縣甲仙鄉鄉長，目前他正在山明水秀的甲仙鄉安怡地享受著退休生活。
劉先生自1990年代初開始收藏銀錠，對他的稱許不應只是在其收藏數量之多，也在其藏品的珍稀與饒富歷史價值﹗或許可以這麼說，劉先生的藏品出自其個人之精選，而每一件都可能是絕大多數收藏者追逐之目標。不由得驚嘆，何以得以用如此之多的珍品構築出一部銀錠史。
去年夏天，劉先生個人銀錠的展示室於甲仙鄉落成，對民眾免費開放。在劉先生盛情邀請與招待下，個人利用春節假期期間的兩天(2/6-2/7)往訪並參觀其巨藏，獲益良多。在劉先生的慨然同意下，本網站將以專題的方式陸續刊登此行拍得劉先生的重要藏品以饗同好。
